FRIDAY - YAY, WE MADE IT!!!

We learned about "GOOD FIT" books and we shopped for books! (We compared it to picking out shoes)

We are building our reading STAMINA and making our reading muscles stronger during our first Daily 5 choice- READ TO SELF!!! We met our goal of FIVE minutes of uninterrupted reading! We are SO PROUD of ourselves!!!

 HAPPY BIRTHDAY FRIEND!!!

We have been exploring with Pattern Blocks and learning about their five main shapes: square, triangle, rhombus, trapezoid, and hexagon. Today, we talked about how we can use letters to describe different patterns - ABABAB, ABCABC, AABBAABB, etc. Check out our patterns and see if you can guess what kinds we created!

 

 

 

Another Busy Day in Kindergarten!

Students first listened to the story, Pete the Cat and his Four Groovy Buttons, written and read on CD by Eric Litwin.  During our second reading, students joined in and we read the book together. For our third reading, students retold the story to a partner, using story props - a shirt and sticker buttons!

 

During math, students played their first partner game, Pete the Cat Roll and Color. They had to take turns rolling the die, match the corresponding shoe and color accordingly.

Understanding syllables and parts of words is an important stepping stone in literacy acquisition! We clapped, counted and matched the syllables of the fruits from our Pete the Cat book!

We learned about Mat Man and how we use "little curves and big curves" and "big lines and little lines" to build Mat Man and ALL of the letters of the alphabet!

 Fun times playing with friends in kindergarten!
